CYNORA strengthens leadership team with two new hires
We are thrilled to welcome two new executives to our leadership team. Dr. Jan Richter joins as Chief Technology Officer and Dr. Bernhard Stapp joins as Chief Strategy Advisor. Both bring deep technology credentials to CYNORA, and extensive leadership experience with companies ranging from venture-backed startups to large global corporations.
Their arrival marks a new high point for CYNORA. Earlier this year we launched our first product, the cyBlueBooster™, offering OLED manufacturers a new fluorescent blue emitter with higher efficiency advantages than comparative products. The pace of innovation continues as we transition from a research-focused materials discovery company to one that is product-focused.
“Jan and Bernhard bring exceptional track records of technology development
and global business management to CYNORA. By strengthening our leadership team
with these skilled executives, we can move faster into our next phase of growth.”
~ Adam Kablanian, CYNORA CEO
Jan Richter, PhD
Jan brings more than 15 years of technology innovation experience to CYNORA. He is chief architect of the company’s technology vision and leads all research and product development programs.
Before CYNORA, Jan was CTO of Siltectra where he initiated the startup’s laser-based wafering solution. He built the team that pioneered the process, forged key partnerships, established the company’s world-class IP position, and positioned the technology in the marketplace. When Siltectra was acquired by Infineon Technologies in 2018, Jan directed the process and knowledge transfer from Siltectra’s Dresden HQ to Infineon’s facility in Austria. Before Siltectra, he held engineering management positions at the Advanced Mask Technology Center in Dresden.
Jan holds a Master’s degree in solid state physics and a PhD in nanobiotechnology, both from the Dresden University of Technology. He did post-doc work in chemistry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and was a visiting scholar at the University of California in Santa Barbara. He has authored many publications and is named on more than 150 patents.
Bernhard Stapp, PhD
Bernhard is a technologist and entrepreneur. As Chief Strategy Advisor, he will guide CYNORA’s transformation to an AI-based materials discovery company, while taking the lead on IP matters and joint development engagements with customers and partners.
Before CYNORA, Bernhard provided expert counsel to companies and venture capital firms with a focus on compound semiconductors and organic electronics. He advised on business strategy, technology and IP issues, as well as due diligence and M&As. Earlier, he spent a decade at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, where he led the introduction of the industry’s first OLED lighting products. He ended his tenure as GM/SVP of the company’s LED and OLED businesses. Before OSRAM, he worked at Siemens in various technology, materials, and manufacturing leadership positions.
Bernhard earned a Diploma in chemistry, and a PhD in the study of homogenous catalysis with platinum-organic complexes, both from the University of Ulm in Germany.
